How Amosu Equipped Hospital With $2.1m- Witness

Tosin Owobo, a prosecution witness and an investigator with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, told Justice M. B. Idris of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, how a former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adeola Amosu Retd. purchased medical equipment worth $2.1m in favour of Solomon Health Care Limited, a company linked to him.

Amosu is standing trial alongside two serving Senior Air Force officers: Air Marshal Jacob Bola Adigun, a former Chief of Accounts and Budgeting and Air Commodore Gbadebo Owodunni Olugbenga, a former Director of Finance and Budget.

Also charged with the accused are seven companies namely: Delfina Oil and Gas limited, McAllan Oil and Gas limited, Hebron Housing and Properties Company Limited, Trapezites BDC, Fonds and Pricey Limited, Deegee Oil and Gas Limited, Timsegg Investment Limited and Solomon Health Care Limited.

The defendants are being prosecuted for a 23-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, money laundering, concealing of proceeds of crime and conversion of funds belonging to the Nigeria Air Force, NAF, to personal use.

At the resumed hearing today, Owobo, who was led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, further told the court how various sums of money were diverted by Amosu and others from the NAF to Solomon Health Care Limited between December 10, 2014 and July 21, 2015.

However, when the prosecution counsel sought to tender a document detailing the purchase of the medical equipment as exhibit , the defence team objected to its admissibility on the grounds that the documents were referred to as St. Solomon Health Care Limited instead of Solomon Health Care Limited, which is the 11th defendant.

The defense prayed the court to mark the document as ejected, saying it is very strange to the charges against the 11th defendant .

Justice Idris adjourned the case to December 6, 2017 for continuation of trial.
