In an attempt to escape justice, a 22 year old suspected burglar has been killed by an alligator while hiding in a pond. He was later found floating about ten days after he was reported missing in te water around Barefooot bay in Florida.
According to the Police Riggins had been attacked by an 11-foot long alligator while he was hiding out after series of break in that led to the police being called but the suspect tried to escape by laying low around the pond.
There was also the report that Riggins called his girlfriend to tell her he would be in the area breaking into homes. While the police searched the area with an helicopter and dogs, it wasnt until the next day that the family of the late Riggins declared him missing.
Major Tod Goodyear, from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, told BayNews9: “He probably went into the lake to hide from the officers and the dog, and came across that gator.
“To hide somewhere to try and get away, and then meeting up with an animal like that, no, I’ve never had that happen before.”
The police dive team was able to locate Riggins body but they also encountered the alligator which was euthanized and some of Riggins’ remains were found inside the animal’s stomach.
