Her mother would be proud. Late Dora Akunyili's daughter's art, breaks auction record, sells for $1.1m


Njideka Akunyili Crosby, daughter of the well loved late Nafdac boss Dora AKunyili,  set a new auction record in New York, last week, as her artwork, “Drown” sold for a whooping $1,092,500 even though it was expected to sell for around $200,000-$300,000 in Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Sale. .

The art was sold to an anonymous buyer on the telephone after an intense bidding by various buyers.. “Drown” is an intimate self-portrait of Njideka with her husband, Justin.
