Acting president Yemi Osibanjo meets with the United Nations Security Council members

The acting president of Nigeria, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo yesterday met with The United Nations Security Council members led by the United Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Mathew Rycroft. He led the five permanent members and the ten non-permanent members of the Council to the presidential villa.
The VP  in a statement said;
I believe it is time for the international community to take another look at international legal instruments and conventions that govern warfare and conflicts in the light of the very unconventional and brutal operations of terrorists and insurgents around the world today.
On a global scale, we must begin to review methods on how to deal with these new challenges. We need to re-examine how to deal with these individuals according to law. We need to look at the governing conventions, legal categories and categories of recognition in law for perpetrators of terror and insurgents.
He Further added that;

Nigeria will progressively review the rules of engagement by the military and across the nation’s security system, and take into considerations human rights issues.
