Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on theenforcement of the Lagos Road Traffic Laws

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos state is taking a more stricter approach to the incessant cases of traffic law violations in the state.  He confirmed that motorists will no longer continue to flout the laws and go free without any consequences. In a series of statement, he said;
Earlier today, I read the riot act to commercial motorcycle operators, buses & street hawkers; we'll not tolerate their nefarious activities. It has become evident that traffic crimes and robbery are mostly as a result of the menace of Okada riders and street hawkers. We’ll not allow a few notorious elements to cause a breakdown in law and order and upset the peace that the state has enjoyed over the years

I've directed the full enforcement of the Lagos Road Traffic Laws today especially as it concerns restriction of okada & tricycle operations. Whoever fails to comply with the traffic law commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction as stipulated in the law.

Road users who break traffic laws will pay traffic fine. Mobile Traffic courts are being introduced to prosecute offenders promptly. Let's see the last 2 months as a period that calls for vigilance & a changed attitude towards issues relating to crime & terrorism.
