Bolane Olukanmi, project fame host had this to say about Will Smith's performance in the concussion's which was snubbed by the Academy Awards;
I went to see the film Concussion on Sunday.. I hadn't seen the trailer and didn't realize it was a movie about a Nigerian doctor.
Anyways, when it began and Will Smith opened his mouth to speak and I realized that Will Smith was meant to be playing a doctor from Nigerian ...cringed and sank into my seat in embarrassment at how horrible Will Smith's Nigerian accent was , and his disregard for
incorporating Nigerian mannerisms into his acting (we are generally passionate people when we speak ) and was like wow I have to sit through this whole movie and believe that Will Smith is Dr. Omalu. I just heard Jada Pinkett is boycotting the Oscars .
I understand the bigger picture. Yes, nominations at the Oscars did not reflect the amazing year in film that people of color had . But if she is boycotting it because she subtlety believes "Concussion" should have been nominated, she needs to come to Lagos and hear what we have to say about her hubby's acting skills in this particular movie . I wish Will didn't have a movie that was "snubbed" so I could believe Jada is being objective.
