While Nigerians are hoping for a change in the economy, it seems some state governors take weddings seriously enough to get people married on state budget, a practice that has settled on the negative side of common sense senator Ben Murray Bruce.
Following an announcement of yet another mass wedding that is set to take place in Kano, the senator slammed state government who has made organizing weddings a priority.
"Really sad that in this period of economic downturn some states are more engaged with mass wedding registries rather than with mass job registries! 18,000 babies are born in Nigeria everyday.
States are seeking bailouts from the FG, businesses are closing up shop and the Naira is sliding everyday with high inflation and our priority is mass marriage! Really!!! Our priority shouldn't be facilitating mass marriages. It should be how to make our people productive enough to marry for themselves and feed their families.I agree with him. They are probably doing such weddings to make the people feel they have benefited from the government. Yet, our common resources is being carted away for even more flamboyant weddings for their own children.
Dear Governors. Focus on state affairs not weddings. You are not event planners!!
