Nigeria Senate pass a bill for the 'Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots'

Yesterday, The Nigerian Senate passed several bills and among them is a bill for the compulsory treatment of individuals with gunshot wounds. Before now, victims with gunshot wounds will need a report from the police before they are treated but the 8th Senate plans to put a stop to that.

Revealing the information to the public, The Senate President Abubakar Saraki said;
One of the 7 Bills that the 8th Senate passed today is the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill, 2017 (HB. 119). Some of the benefits of this Bill to Nigerians include: - Every hospital in Nigeria whether public or private will be mandated to accept or receive for immediate and adequate treatment with or without police clearance, any person with a gunshot wound; - Every person including security agents shall render every possible assistance to any person with gunshot wounds and ensure that the person is taken to the nearest hospital for treatment; and - No person with a bullet wound shall be subject to inhuman and degrading treatment or torture by any person in authority. This includes police and security agencies.

Good ! Treat them and arrest them later. Let them be fit enough to stand trial and be sentenced, if guilty of what they're accused of. Can't believe that all these years no doctors came out to protest against the law. Glad to see it's now changed. .
